Whew, what a day… First, a big (and much needed) Stikfas restock and now, 4 new products!

The first two products, the Fanguard Necklace and the Fanguard Earrings, are additions to our Jewelry section. The pendant on the necklace is made from a real fan guard commonly found on the power supply of a CPU. As for the earrings, they are two modified fanguards are transformed into cool dangly earrings. It’s yet another very cool products for the geek ladies out there.

Also added to the store today is the Bluetooth FrogPad. Bluetooth FrogPad is the missing piece for successful mobile products. In its simplest form the Bluetooth FrogPad can be used wirelessly with any PC or MAC that has Bluetooth capability and which also supports the HID Bluetooth profile for text and data input. With a rechargeable battery and a 30 foot range, using your FrogPad can be easier than ever!

Personally, it’s one of the most interesting product I’ve played with so far. I really recommand it for the geek on the go.

Last but least, we’re happy to be offering the Cuboyds! Made by the same people who created the Stikfas, those small and inexpensive pre-assembled 3″ articulated action figures are the perfect decoration for your desk, cube or room. In addition to the many flat surfaces that makes painting a much easier job, printed STIKer sheets that come with the Cuboyds figures give the customiser new media to decorate their figure.

Job opening at ZeStuff - Part 2

Friday, July 21st, 2006

So it seems like the job opening wasn’t totally clear to some people so I figured I’d make a post to clarify what we want, what we don’t want and why.

First off, I don’t want to sound rude or anything but we’re not looking for anybody under *at least* 18 years old. We’re also not looking for “junior designers” or people that are only available for the summer. This is a long term thing.

“Do you currently have a coder? Is this job purely a design job?”
“I’m also confused about what “Basic understanding of related technologies including JavaScript, AJAX, DHTML and XML” means… how basic is basic?”

This is a design job. Outside of compliant HTML, CSS and maybe some Javascript, you don’t need to know much of that other stuff. The reason we ask for basic understanding of AJAX, XML, PHP and such is that we want our designer to be able to see the big picture. In short, you don’t need to be a programmer. You just need to know what I’m talking about if I’m throwing out ideas of doing an AJAX “add to cart” feature or things like that.

Many times, I’ve worked with designers that would show me very cool drafts for websites I was working on. The only problem is that once this design was turned into HTML, some of their work didn’t make sense anymore.

What we want is someone who excels at building simple layouts that are going to be compatible with the recent browsers and that won’t be heavy (KB wise) to load (hence why a strong XHTML and CSS knowledge is required).

Some people have asked us what’s wrong with the current ZeStuff website. One of the major problem we have with it is that we don’t have a lead designer for it anymore which means we can’t do much modifications to the site. In addition, we feel the site is overdue for a little touch up. There’s a lot of things like the big bulky header that needs to be redone.

Add to that the new projects and ideas we have for ZeStuff, it just makes way more sense for us to hire someone new and allow them to redo the site instead of forcing them to hack someone else’s work. Personally, I know I always hated to be forced to work in someone else’s code. I can only think that it has to be the same for a web designer.

I hope this will answer some of the questions you guys had. If you have more questions, please post a comment in this blog post and I’ll answer them.

If you think you have what it takes, please email your resume (in text, html or PDF format, no word or wordpad), salary requirements/rates and portfolio to jobs@zestuff.com. Applications that does not have a resume, a salary requirement (or rates) and a portfolio WILL BE IGNORED!

4 new products

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Hey folks! Sorry for the late post but better late than never :). We added 4 new products to the store today.

The first two are World of Warcraft related t-shirts. Created by Tim Buckley, the Alliance and the Horde shirts will allow the others to see which side you’re on. In addition, these shirts are already compatible with the upcoming WoW expansion, the Burning Crusade so you won’t need to upgrade your gear once you re-roll your character to try our the new races.

Another addition to our store is the Pertelian External LCD Display. For the first time ever, playing a game on your PC will no longer isolate you from the rest of the world. Leave your IM’s open and chat freely, scan through your emails without having to open your browser, control music running in the background in ways you never thought possible and so much more without ever leaving or crashing your game!

The included software makes setup a snap, allowing you to do more with your PC while you game, all with the help of a few programmable hotkey combinations. You’ll wonder how you ever got along without it!

Last but not least are the Nintendo Power Mints, our first item in the new Candies & Mints section of our store. This little tin has the same size and shape as a vintage NES controller and comes with 2 oz of tasty peppermints.

The beauty of this item is that once you’ve eaten all the mints, you can use it to store your gamer accessories, like Gameboy, GBA or DS cartriges.

In fact, the readers of Wonderland have determined that the tin holds 12 DS catridges.

Like for the other products we added today, grab them while they’re hot!
